A small machine gun used by a carjacker who was killed by police in Colton on Tuesday was the same gun used to kill two Rancho Cucamonga teenagers last weekend, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department determined Wednesday.

“They feel very confident this is the same man who shot my son,” Diahann Harris said.

Blake Hudson Harris, 18, and Christopher Heyman, 17, were passengers in a car that was riddled by gunfire Sunday morning near the 210 Freeway in Rancho Cucamonga. Heyman died at the scene, and Harris died Tuesday at a hospital.

The driver was unharmed, and said he didn’t know where the gunfire came from.

Tuesday morning, Alexis Jimenez, 20, of Fontana used a machine-gun-like handgun to carjack two vehicles. When officers tried to pull him over, he rammed two patrol cars. The officers shot him to death when he pointed the gun at them, police said.

Jimenez had told his first carjacking victim that he would “spray” police with bullets if they confronted him and that he “generally shoots his victims,” Colton Police Chief Kenneth Rulon said.

Cindy Beavers, a sheriff’s spokeswoman, said investigators had not officially concluded that Jimenez killed Harris and Heyman. She said investigators were inspecting fingerprints on the gun.

Bert Heyman, Christopher’s father, said he was told by a detective that authorities believe someone approached the car his son was riding in and fired about 50 rounds within four seconds.

“At least my son didn’t feel, hear or see anything,” Heyman said. “He was just gone.”
