Waldron Doubles Up in the Desert Derby

Share

It will be a major surprise if owner Dianne Waldron doesn’t win the $107,800 Daughters of the Desert Derby tonight.

Waldron owns Frynch and Ammante, the 4-year-old Arabian fillies who form the entry that is the 2-5 morning line choice in the six-furlong race.

Trained by Phil Saxer, Frynch and Ammante have combined to win five of 14 races and are fresh off impressive victories in their first starts at Los Alamitos. Frynch, who was bred in France, won by more than three lengths on Jan. 8, a race before Ammante won by nearly 12 lengths. Both completed six furlongs in 1:20 4/5.
