Suspect Found in Hospital
Police looking for suspects in the thwarted robbery of a retired Orange County sheriff’s deputy found one in a Gardena hospital Wednesday, said Anaheim Police Sgt. Rick Martinez.
Lavan Donell Jackson Jr., 30, was dropped off at Gardena Memorial Hospital on Tuesday night with a gunshot wound to the upper torso, and the hospital notified police, Martinez said. Wednesday, Jackson, of Los Angeles, was taken to the Orange County Jail medical ward.
The retired deputy was getting out of a car in Anaheim when a man approached with a gun. The retired deputy pulled out a gun and shot the man in the upper torso, Martinez said.
