Woman Killed on Way to Hospital

A woman was killed Tuesday when the car she was riding in was broadsided as it turned into a Fountain Valley hospital, police said.

Margaret Williams, 76, of Anaheim was pronounced dead at Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center, of a broken neck and severe trauma, Fountain Valley Police Sgt. Kevin Thomas said.

Williams was a passenger in a small car that was broadsided by a pickup truck as the car was pulling into the hospital, on Talbert Avenue, about 9:30 a.m.

The car’s driver, James Hnizdil, 82, of Anaheim, suffered broken ribs and was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, Thomas said.

The driver of the truck, Richard Farnum, 63, of Fountain Valley, was taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center after he complained of pain, police said.

No arrests or citations have been issued, Thomas said.
