Blaze Destroys 12 Small Businesses

A fire at a commercial center caused more than $3 million in damage and destroyed a dozen small businesses, fire authorities said.
The northeastern pocket of the Seven Trees Shopping Center -- a 30,000-square-foot space -- became engulfed in flames and black smoke that brought down rooftops, collapsed walls and engulfed a cluster of nearby businesses, including a clothing shop, jeweler and tropical fish store, said San Jose Fire Department spokeswoman Allison Cabral.
