From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Fulshair El Shukrijumah, 74, an Islamic scholar whose son, Adnan, was labeled by the FBI in March as a terrorism suspect, died Friday at his home in Miramar, Fla. He had suffered a series of strokes after his son was accused.

The family has denied that Adnan G. El Shukrijumah, 28, had any connection to terrorism. But in March, the FBI called him a serious threat to U.S. interests at home and abroad. In May, Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft again named the son as he warned of an increased risk of terrorist attacks this summer. The son remains at large.

The father, seeing his son’s picture on a television news report at the time of the Ashcroft warning, started crying, friends said, then had a stroke that sent him into a coma, from which he never recovered.
