From Times Staff and Wire Reports

FRESNO

Just hours after being elected to a second term, City Council member Brian Calhoun was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

Fresno police stopped him Wednesday morning, when Calhoun told them he had not been drinking. But police said he failed several field sobriety tests.

Police Chief Jerry Dyer said Calhoun was treated like anyone else: His car was impounded and his driver’s license was confiscated, and then he was taken to University Medical Center for an alcohol blood test. But he was not booked into jail.
