2 Bodies Are Discovered Inside House After Fire

Firefighters found two people dead Sunday morning inside a house after a fire ravaged the rear of the one-story structure in the 16300 block of Chase Street, a fire official said.
Firefighters responded to a call at 12:22 a.m. Sunday and extinguished the fire by 12:39 a.m., said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. They found the bodies of a woman, believed to be 80, and a man about 60, he said. Neighbors said they were a mother and son. Damage was estimated at $40,000.
