From Staff and Wire Reports

What a time for Ronaldo to get injured.

Real Madrid goes into its Champions League second-leg showdown with Bayern Munich on Wednesday without its injured top scorer.

The Brazilian star suffered a thigh muscle tear while playing Saturday and probably will sit out the Copa del Rey final against Zaragoza on March 17.

“It could have been a lot worse,” team doctor Alfonso Del Corral said on Real Madrid’s website. “If the muscle damage had been bigger, we’d be looking at four to six weeks out.”

Ronaldo limped off as Madrid struggled to a 1-1 draw with Racing Santander.

He will be missed when the Spanish champion takes on the Bundesliga titlist with the two teams tied, 1-1, from the first leg at Munich, Germany.

The game is one of eight second-round matches and three teams, Arsenal, Chelsea and Lyon, look well on the way to the quarterfinals after posting first-leg victories on the road.

Chelsea plays host to VfB Stuttgart with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg and Lyon is in the same position against Real Sociedad.

What chance does Celta de Vigo have of taking out Arsenal?

Arsenal has home advantage and holds a 3-2 advantage over Celta.
