Bicyclist Struck, Killed by Truck Is Identified

Authorities Tuesday identified a bicyclist struck and killed by a pickup as Daniel Thomas, 55, of Irvine.
Thomas swerved in front of the pickup near Shady Canyon Drive and Bonita Canyon Drive Monday afternoon, police said. He was pronounced dead at Irvine Regional Hospital and Medical Center shortly after the 5:15 p.m. accident.
The pickup’s driver, Alfredo Aceves, 32, of Santa Ana, was not injured. He was not cited pending an investigation, police said.
