Man Is Shot by Police During Arrest

A man was hospitalized Monday after being shot by Anaheim police when officers tried to arrest him on suspicion of violations relating to domestic violence, narcotics and weapons.

Police did not release the name of the man, who they said was not seriously injured.

The shooting occurred about 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1600 block of West Crescent Avenue. Officers went there to arrest the man, whom they considered to be armed and dangerous.

Sgt. Rick Martinez said he didn’t immediately know whether a weapon was recovered from the suspect or what prompted the shooting. The incident is under investigation.
