The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Iraq:

Jessica L. Cawvey, 21, of Normal, Ill.; specialist, Army National Guard. Cawvey was killed Wednesday when an improvised explosive device detonated near her convoy vehicle in Fallouja. She was assigned to the 1544th Transportation Company, Army National Guard in Paris, Ill.

Russell L. Collier, 48, of Harrison, Ark.; sergeant, Army National Guard. Collier was one of two soldiers killed Oct. 3 when their unit was attacked with small-arms fire while conducting traffic control operations in Taji. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 206th Field Artillery Regiment, Army National Guard in Russellville, Ark.

Mike A. Dennie, 31, of Fayetteville, N.C.; staff sergeant, Army. Dennie died Sept. 29 in Balad of injuries suffered Sept. 22 when the driver of his military vehicle pulled off the road in Baghdad and lost control, causing the vehicle to roll over.

He was assigned to the 106th Finance Battalion in Kitzingen, Germany.

Jack T. Hennessy, 21, of Naperville, Ill.; sergeant, Army. Hennessy was killed Oct. 1 when his checkpoint in Baghdad was attacked with small-arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Rodney A. Jones, 21, of Philadelphia; specialist, Army. Jones was killed Sept. 30 when an improvised explosive device on a vehicle exploded near his dismounted patrol in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Richard L. Morgan Jr., 38, of St. Clairsville, Ohio; staff sergeant, Army Reserve. Morgan died Tuesday of injuries suffered Monday when an improvised explosive device detonated near his convoy vehicle in Latifiya. He was assigned to the 660th Transportation Company, Army Reserve in Cadiz, Ohio.

Allen Nolan, 38, of Marietta, Ohio; specialist, Army Reserve. Nolan died Sept. 30 at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, of injuries suffered Sept. 18 when his convoy vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Balad and then was attacked with small-arms fire. He was assigned to the 660th Transportation Company, Army Reserve in Zanesville, Ohio.

James L. Pettaway Jr., 37, of Baltimore; staff sergeant, Army Reserve. Pettaway died Oct. 3 at Brooke Army Medical Center at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, of injuries suffered Aug. 27 in a motor vehicle accident in Fallouja. He was assigned to the 223rd Transportation Company, Army Reserve in Norristown, Pa.

Christopher S. Potts, 38, of Tiverton, R.I.; sergeant, Army National Guard. Potts was one of two soldiers killed Oct. 3 when their unit was attacked with small-arms fire while conducting traffic control operations in Taji. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 103rd Field Artillery Regiment in Providence, R.I.

Michael A. Uvanni, 27, of

Rome, N.Y.; sergeant, Army National Guard. Uvanni was killed Oct. 1 when he was shot by a sniper while conducting combat operations in Samarra. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry Regiment, Army National Guard in Morrisonville, N.Y.
