It was really a Guy thing

Gussied-up guys and dolls came out en masse for the Guy reunion show at the Henry Fonda Theatre on Friday night. The sold-out event was the first time in 14 years the R&B; stars took the stage together, and a good time it was. Such fans as actress Tisha Campbell and her hubby, actor Duane Martin; actor Anthony Anderson; mega-producers Bobby Ross Avila and Daman Thomas; rap icon Darlene Ortiz; and superstar performer Usher were among the members of the crowd singing every word to every song. And by the by, Usher blew through after checking out the Ray Charles tribute at Staples Center earlier in the night. And while we’re gabbing, we hear Avila has been tapped to produce cuts on the upcoming Earth, Wind & Fire tribute album. Should go nicely with the work he’s done on Gwen Stefani’s solo album and Usher’s recent megaseller.

Happy birthday to a onetime Pet

Saturday night’s birthday bash for A.D. owner Cheryl Davis was one big rock ‘n’ roll fantasy. The Hollywood nightclub debuted its extreme makeover, which included lush tones of gold-on-gold and a new deep purple exterior. Among the evening’s highlights was a slide show featuring photos from Davis’ Penthouse “Pet of the Year” days, as well as raucous performances by the night’s house band, which included members of KISS, Goldfinger, Crazytown and Cinderella. All that was missing was the glass slipper.

Their bass instincts are nice

The Echo hosted a benefit on Sunday night for veteran bass player Gil T (Top Jimmy & the Rhythm Pigs), who recently had a tumor removed from his arm and is unable to work. Among the performers were X, the Blasters, the Rhythm Pigs, Carlos Guitarlos with Marcy Levy and Flea, Dave Alvin, the Paladins, Candye Kane, Juke Logan and Bob Forrest.... And we hear Guitarlos just got back from England, where he met Elton John and the Duchess of York. How very very.... It doesn’t stop: Xes nightclub just launched a new Friday night dance fest called Curve, which features DJ Benny Black and hosts Henry Penzi, Josh Levine and Reggie Marshall, among others. And in more Xes news, Saturday’s Fame night was rife with the famous: Such hot-listers as Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, Jessica Alba, Taye Diggs and Jack Osbourne were shaking it.

9 a.m.... In random star-sighting news, I breezed into Cafe Tartine on Beverly Boulevard in time to catch “The O.C.” actor

Tate Donovan chowing on lunch.... And former Bolthouse Productions doorgal Allison Melnick is starring in a new Spike TV show called “The Club” (Melnick promotes the hot Tuesday night club at Nacional in Hollywood). “The Club” centers around the behind-the-scenes antics of Las Vegas’ ICE nightclub. Uh-oh. I thought what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
