College Student Dies After Fall From Bluff
A San Francisco State University student who fell from a coastal bluff during a recent team-building hike along the Marin Headlands died Tuesday.
Kevin Costello, 17, of Watsonville, Calif., slipped and fell about 50 feet when he and another student set out on a steep slope during the university’s Presidential Scholars Program retreat Friday. He was taken to Stanford University Medical Center.
San Francisco State President Robert A. Corrigan said in a statement that the university was “shocked and deeply saddened by Kevin’s untimely death. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to Kevin’s family, as well as his friends and fellow students. This is a truly heartbreaking loss.”
