A woman and her young daughter were killed Saturday evening when they were struck by a pickup truck driven by a man who ran a red light, police said.

The woman, who was about 30, and the girl, who was about 6, were hit and killed at about 5 p.m. in the 9100 block of Cedros Avenue near Nordhoff Street, said Los Angeles Police Officer Jason Lee.

A 20-month-old boy whom the woman was pushing in a stroller suffered serious injuries, but he was expected to survive, Lee said.

The driver was later hospitalized for a stroke, he said.
