It’s Time We Used Natural Gas

Share

Preston Lerner writes effusively about gasoline-hybrid electric vehicles, but he dismisses natural gas-powered vehicles as not viable (“Revenge of the Nerdmobiles,” Aug. 29). Fortunately for America’s energy and environmental future, he is wrong. Our only option for reducing the amount of oil we import is to begin switching to non-petroleum fuels. Natural gas is the leading alternative. California--and especially the Los Angeles area--leads the nation in the number of fleet vehicles running on natural gas, which burns much cleaner than gasoline or diesel. It’s the best non-petroleum technology today.
