Al Dermody, who in 1959 was one of 16,000 entrants in a naming contest for the new baseball stadium in San Francisco, died Sept. 1 at the age of 94. Dermody thought the stadium, located on Candlestick Point, should be called Candlestick Park, and his entry was selected.
