Manchester United’s 4-1 semifinal victory over Newcastle on Sunday ensured a matchup against rival Arsenal in this year’s FA Cup final, the oldest Cup competition in international soccer.

United’s victory came a day after Arsenal defeated Blackburn, 3-0, in the other semifinal.

The results mean a May 21 final matchup here at Millennium Stadium of two coaches -- United’s Alex Ferguson and Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger -- who have been sniping at each other for years.

Wenger was fined by the Football Assn. for calling Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy a cheat.

Ferguson, who regularly blames Wenger for his players’ misbehavior, said he was spattered with food during a scuffle after the teams left the field following a league game.

The clubs will meet in the Cup final for the first time since 1979.
