Rookie Jeff Francis gave up two runs and four hits in 6 2/3 innings and the last-place Colorado Rockies defeated San Diego, 4-3, on Friday night in San Diego, dropping the National League West-leading Padres to 63-64.

This is the latest in a season a team has led a division with a losing record. The Rockies (50-78), who have won five of six, are 13 1/2 games behind in baseball’s weakest division.

San Diego’s Adam Eaton made his first start in more than two months after being activated from a stint on the disabled list.

Philadelphia 11, Arizona 3 -- Bobby Abreu capped Philadelphia’s six-run seventh inning with a grand slam at Phoenix, and the Phillies won for the fifth time in six games.

New York 1, San Francisco 0 -- Steve Trachsel gave up two hits in eight innings at San Francisco in his first start since back surgery in March to lead the Mets to their fifth straight win. The streak has moved them eight games over .500 for the first time since 2000.

Milwaukee 3, Atlanta 1 -- The Brewers’ Ben Sheets strained his upper back and left the game in the eighth at Milwaukee. Chipper Jones was batting with two out in the eighth and was behind in the count 0-2 when Sheets bounced a pitch behind the batter. Sheets came off the mound in obvious pain. His back will be examined today.

Cincinnati 6, Pittsburgh 1 -- Ken Griffey Jr. hit two homers, giving him three in two games and 32 this season, and winner Aaron Harang (9-11) hit an RBI single at Pittsburgh to end an 0-for-49 slump. It was the longest hitless streak by a major leaguer since San Diego pitcher Andy Benes went 0 for 50 in 1991.

Florida 7, Chicago 5 -- Rookie left-hander Jason Vargas (5-1) pitched five scoreless innings before the Cubs rallied with five runs in the sixth to cut into a 7-0 lead at Chicago.

Washington 4, St. Louis 1 -- The Nationals recorded their 67th victory of the season, matching the Montreal Expos’ total from 2004, and Esteban Loaiza (9-9) gave up one run and three hits over seven-plus innings at Washington.
