Iowa and Indiana Tumble

Tuesday was a big night for the Missouri Valley Conference.

At Cedar Falls, Iowa, Erik Crawford scored seven of his nine points in overtime, and Eric Coleman finished with 19 points to lead Northern Iowa (5-1) to a 67-63 victory over No. 12 Iowa. Greg Brunner had 26 points for the Hawkeyes (7-2).

At Terre Haute, Ind., David Moss and Tyson Schnitker each scored 19 points to help Indiana State (4-0) score a 72-67 victory over No. 18 Indiana. It was the Sycamores’ third victory in the past four games against the Hoosiers (4-2).

No. 14 Michigan State 77, No. 6 Boston College 70 -- Maurice Ager had 17 of his 22 points in the second half and Paul Davis finished with 18 points to lead the Spartans (6-2) past the Eagles (6-1) at New York.

No. 4 Villanova 79, Bucknell 60 -- Randy Foye had 28 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Wildcats (5-0) over the Bison (5-1) at Lewisburg, Pa.

No. 10 Florida 87, Providence 77 -- The Gators (8-0) had nine three-point baskets and matched the team’s best start since it opened 10-0 in 1951 with a victory over the Friars (3-3) at Providence, R.I.

No. 15 Kentucky 73, Georgia State 46 -- Backup center Shagari Alleyne scored a career-high 16 points and the Wildcats (6-2) defeated the Panthers (2-3) in Atlanta despite playing without leading scorer Rajon Rondo, who was ill.

ELSEWHERE

Leon Powe had 22 points and eight rebounds to lead California (6-1) to its sixth consecutive victory, an 82-64 win over San Diego State (4-3) at Berkeley.
