Man Found Dead After House Fire
From a Times Staff Writer
A 70-year-old man was found dead Wednesday following a house fire in South Los Angeles, authorities said.
Firefighters were called to 1532 E. 54th St. on the east side of the Harbor Freeway just before 6 p.m. and found the house engulfed in flames, said Los Angeles city spokesman Ron Myers.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was found inside the front door, Myers said.
Neighbors had helped two other residents of the house escape, he said. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
