Project Near Arrowhead Criticized; Suit Is Filed
Several environmental groups filed suit Tuesday against the county and the developer of a 57-home project near Lake Arrowhead that supervisors approved last month.
The lawsuit contends that the Hawarden Development Corp. project is too dense for the area’s steep terrain, would destroy southern rubber boa habitat, has an uncertain water source and is at high risk for fire.
It also calls the project’s environmental impact report flawed and asks the county to reevaluate the project under stricter development rules passed in response to the 2003 wildfires in the region.
