Notre Dame Beats Utah, 68-55

Melissa D’Amico scored 13 points and Lindsay Schrader had 10 points and 10 rebounds in No. 13-ranked Notre Dame’s 68-55 women’s basketball victory over No. 22 Utah on Sunday in the Gray Division title game in the Duel in the Desert at Las Vegas.

D’Amico, the tournament’s most valuable player, made four of five shots and had eight rebounds for the Irish (8-1).

The Utes trailed, 26-25, at halftime and took their only lead, at 39-38, with 9:54 left. The Irish then went on an 11-1 run.

Kim Smith led Utah (7-2) with 18 points.

No. 3 Louisiana State 66, Kentucky 36 -- Seimone Augustus scored 23 points to lead the Tigers’ rout at Lexington, Ky.

For the third time this season, LSU, 7-0 overall and 1-0 in the Southeastern Conference, limited an opponent to 41 points or less; and Kentucky (8-1, 0-1) had its lowest point total in school history.

Illinois 86, No. 15 Oklahoma 75 -- Danyel Crutcher scored a career-high 24 points and Janelle Hughes had 11 consecutive points during a pivotal 16-4 run at Champaign, Ill.

Hughes finished with 17 points for Illinois (6-3). Courtney Paris had 27 points and 19 rebounds for Oklahoma (9-2).

Illinois ended a seven-game losing streak against teams ranked in the top 25.

No. 19 Texas 69, North Texas 49 -- Tiffany Jackson had 27 points and 16 rebounds for the Longhorns at Austin, Texas.

Jackson also had four blocked shots and five steals for Texas (5-3).

The Longhorns, who shot only 40%, scored 30 points off 27 North Texas turnovers and held the Mean Green (7-2) without a field goal for the final six minutes of the game.

No. 23 North Carolina State 80, Arkansas State 59 -- Billie McDowell had 17 points and nine assists for the Wolfpack in the Gray Division third-place game at Las Vegas.

Khadija Whittington had 19 rebounds and 13 points, and Gillian Goring and Tiffany Stansbury had 14 points each for North Carolina State (7-3).

Adrianne Davie led the Indians (5-5) with 18 points.
