Three injured Indianapolis starters -- record-setting receiver Marvin Harrison, Pro Bowl linebacker Cato June and right tackle Ryan Diem -- did not travel to Seattle for the Colts’ game today against the Seahawks, assistant coach Jim Caldwell said Friday.

Harrison broke a bone in his right hand and did not practice all week. June has spent the last two months dealing with a sports hernia, sore knee and sore ankle. Diem is expected to sit out the last two regular-season games because of a sprained ligament in his left knee and hopes to return for the Colts’ first playoff game Jan. 14 or 15.

Harrison’s injury is not believed to be serious. Earlier this week, Coach Tony Dungy said Harrison was being fitted for a “hand apparatus” and probably could play through the injury.

But since they have secured the AFC South title, a first-round bye and home-field advantage through the playoffs, the Colts decided not to risk additional injuries. Among the others expected to sit are defensive linemen Corey Simon and Robert Mathis, who have foot injuries. Pro Bowl safety Bob Sanders (back) and defensive tackle Montae Reagor (knee) also might be out.

And quarterback Peyton Manning, a two-time most valuable player, is expected to get limited playing time. Manning has made every start in his eight seasons.

A medical examiner’s preliminary report confirmed that Dungy’s 18-year-old son committed suicide, although the cause of death will not be determined for at least four weeks. Dr. Jacqueline Lee released the findings in Lutz, Fla., and said there was no evidence of foul play. Lee ordered a toxicology study, and until it is finished, the cause and manner of James Dungy’s death are listed as pending.

Dungy’s girlfriend found him unresponsive early Thursday, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Debbie Carter said. Carter said evidence at the scene indicated he had killed himself.

A sheriff’s deputy performed CPR before an ambulance took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Tampa Tribune reported on its website Friday night that James Dungy had been admitted to a hospital after seeking help from a deputy outside his apartment Oct. 21, saying he had taken an overdose of painkillers and called for an ambulance, according to a sheriff’s report. Dungy told the deputy that he was depressed, the sheriff’s report stated.

Oakland Raider running back LaMont Jordan remained sidelined because of a toe injury and has been ruled out of today’s game against Denver.

Jordan was injured Sunday in the Raiders’ 9-7 loss to Cleveland.
