Eva Marie Saint, perhaps best known for her Oscar-winning performance alongside Marlon Brando in the 1954 film “On the Waterfront” and her appearance in the 1959 Hitchcock classic “North by Northwest,” will make a rare stage appearance in Los Angeles later this month.

The 80-year-old actress will perform for two weekends, Jan. 14-16 and Jan. 21-23, with an ensemble of actors from the Actors Studio at Sunset Millennium (the former Tiffany Theater) in the West Coast premiere of “Touch the Names,” a reading made up of letters left at the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. The theater piece was written by Randal Myers with music composed by Chic Streetman. The production will be directed by Saint’s husband, Jeffrey Hayden.

Saint was seen onstage in Los Angeles in 1979 in “First Monday in October” with Henry Fonda. Last year she appeared in A.R. Gurney’s “Love Letters” at the Beverly Hills Hotel in a benefit for the Epilepsy Foundation. She also plays a role in the upcoming feature film “Because of Winn-Dixie,” directed by Wayne Wang.
