Evans Is Hospitalized
Seattle SuperSonic starting forward Reggie Evans was hospitalized Sunday because of a stomach disorder, causing him to miss a game against the visiting Miami Heat.
Coach Nate McMillan had planned to start Evans against the Heat after he practiced Saturday. Evans sat out the final two games of the SuperSonics’ just-completed trip because of his stomach problem, which has been diagnosed as gastroenteritis.
The SuperSonics don’t know when Evans will return.
“This was a shock to me because he was fine yesterday,” McMillan said. “He woke up this morning and felt ill. He’ll be in the hospital overnight.”
Vitaly Potapenko started in Evans’ place.

Philadelphia 76er guard Allen Iverson, the NBA’s scoring leader, probably will play despite a sprained right ankle when the Portland Trail Blazers visit tonight.
Iverson, averaging 28.9 points, sat out Friday’s game against Minnesota as the 76ers finished a trip in which they were 5-3. He injured the ankle against Utah on Wednesday but played the rest of the game.
Iverson is also bothered by flu and a bruised left shoulder.
