Comets Extend Their Streak
The Houston Comets extended their season-high winning streak to four games with a 75-65 victory Saturday over the Charlotte Sting at Houston.
Sheryl Swoopes, selected a starter for the All-Star game, scored 10 of her 16 points in the second half for the Comets.
Tangela Smith scored 19 points and Alison Feaster had 17, the only players in double figures for the Sting.
The Comets pulled away with a late 12-2 run highlighted by a 24-foot three-point basket by Swoopes.
San Antonio 69, New York 57 -- The Silver Stars used a 24-0 run in the last seven minutes to win at San Antonio. La’Keshia Frett’s hook shot gave the Liberty a 55-45 lead with 7:10 left. Her basket would be their last points until Becky Hammon’s reverse layup with 20 seconds left.
