I don’t care how many records Annika Sorenstam sets in golf, she’ll never surpass what Danica Patrick accomplished in the Indy 500 last Sunday. Patrick’s fourth-place finish was an absolutely phenomenal sports achievement. Sorenstam can go on to win 100 LPGA titles, but she doesn’t have to do it while traveling more than 200 mph -- as Patrick did at the brickyard.

Any woman who competes in racing has had to overcome all sorts of man-made obstacles -- lack of sponsors, lack of opportunities, attitude barriers -- yet once she actually does qualify for the Indy 500 (after posting the fastest practice time of the field, by the way), she has an advantage because she’s small! Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Robby Gordon claims Danica Patrick has a 100-pound advantage and that’s why she could beat him in racing. I have news, Robby; she also has talent, desire and class, something you’ll never have.

If Robby’s ego wasn’t the size of Texas, he would weigh much less.

Robby Gordon is absolutely right in saying what he said. He was not trying to be sexist, he was just stating the truth. As long as the car is weighed without the driver, Danica Patrick will have an unfair advantage, and the IRL needs to do something to fix that.
