New Charge for Ex-Trustee in DUI Arrest

A former Orange County school board trustee has been charged with felony child endangerment after allegedly letting his 13-year-old daughter drive them home from school, his lawyer said Saturday.
Bill Lewis, 52, was drunk when he arrived at the Orange school, prosecutors say. Their car struck a bicyclist, 11, leaving him slightly injured.
Lewis had earlier been charged with drunk driving in the May 2004 incident. Lewis, then a member of the Orange Unified School District Board of Trustees, hopped out of his car at the scene and announced that he was the driver, prosecutors said. But an investigation revealed that his daughter was at the wheel when the accident occurred.
Lewis has pleaded not guilty to both charges, said his lawyer, Al Stokke.
