An 80-year-old Huntington Beach bicyclist died Monday after being struck by a car, police said.
The car’s driver, a Huntington Beach woman, was later arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, but investigators said that appeared unconnected to the 5:45 p.m. accident that took the life of the unidentified man.
Constance Springer, 59, was being held on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine.
The bicyclist, who was crossing Atlanta Avenue just east of Delaware Street, died at the scene. It was unclear whether he was crossing legally, Bright said.
