Two Hot Streaks on Line

Something will have to give today when a couple of hot horses get together in the sixth race at Santa Anita.

Awesome Dividend, a 5-year-old Awesome Again horse, has won two in a row for owners John and Bettina Deininger and trainer Bob Baffert and he’ll try to beat up on one of his elders in the $41,000 starter allowance race at 1 1/16 miles.

Max Power, an 8-year-old gelded son of Geiger Counter, has won four in a row since being claimed for $25,000 by trainer Julio Canani for owner Larry Gleason.

Bred in Australia, Max Power has won his last three starts by a combined 12 1/2 lengths. Martin Pedroza has been the rider during the hot streak and he remains today.

Awesome Dividend has won four of his last five races, including a half-length victory in an optional claimer in his lone start of the current Santa Anita meet Jan. 23. He will break from the rail and be ridden by Casey Fusilier.

Race of the day: Unbridled Energy will get a new jockey in Eibar Coa as he tries for his second victory in three outings for WinStar Farm LLC and trainer Elliott Walden in today’s ninth at Gulfstream Park. A 4 1/4 -length winner of his debut Oct. 2 at Turfway Park, Unbridled Energy will have six opponents in the $33,000 allowance at 7 1/2 furlongs.

One for the road: Rises The Phoenix can score right back for trainer Jason Servis in today’s sixth at Aqueduct after beating maidens by 12 1/4 lengths Feb. 10. Stewart Elliott will ride the 4-year-old Lion Cavern colt against eight others in the $44,000 allowance for New York breds at one mile.

Exotically speaking: A place pick all using Beau in the first, K C Nite Mayr and Emperoroftheraces in the second, I’ll Prey For You in the third, Off The Richter and Caillech in the fourth, Sexy Saint in the fifth, Max Power and Awesome Dividend in the sixth, Lazzeri in the seventh and the Charismatic Heart entry, Texas Rush and Iyieldtonoone in the eighth.
