In the midst of a six-game losing streak, the Orlando Magic fired Coach Johnny Davis on Thursday.
Davis, hired in 2003, had his team fall to 31-33 and into a tie with Philadelphia for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot. Assistant Chris Jent was named interim coach.
Davis was 51-84 with the Magic.

Cleveland Coach Paul Silas was fined $10,000 by the Cavaliers for a derogatory comment he made Monday about Utah’s Carlos Boozer, one day before the Jazz forward was scheduled to return to Cleveland for the first time since leaving as a free agent last summer.
