There’s plenty of fight in this dog

I take umbrage with Dog Davis’ incomplete listing of the city’s hot dog joints [“Who Is the Top Dog?” April 28]. Any genuine “dog” lover knows that Carney’s is the gold standard in L.A. hot dogging. I am leaving New York out of this discussion but include an honorable tip o’ the tongs to Papayas, so N.Y. ex-pats have a frame of reference.

Pink’s is a classic that I have patronized since 1961(back when the dogs really snapped), and Rubin’s Red Hot and Tail o’ the Pup are solid competitors, for sure. But the railroad-themed train car turned hot dog platform is the real deal. Just try one and order it “split and grilled” with their signature chili and old yellow mustard with onions. It will put the other joints in town to shame.
