From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The San Fernando Valley Orange Line busway had 10,000 to 11,000 passenger boardings on Monday, the first day it opened to weekday commuters, transportation officials said Tuesday. Earlier, the MTA had estimated Monday’s ridership to be 7,500, but that projection was based on incomplete data. The number of Tuesday’s boardings was still being calculated.

The $324-million, 14-mile transitway runs from Warner Center in Woodland Hills to North Hollywood’s Red Line subway station. The Orange Line’s extra-long buses run on an exclusive roadway and make 13 stops.
