Spurs Stop James, Cavaliers, 102-76

The San Antonio Spurs shut down LeBron James over the last three quarters of a 102-76 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night at San Antonio.

Cleveland scored only 31 points in the second half on 10-for-43 shooting. James had 10 points in the first quarter, matching his total for the rest of the game.

Bruce Bowen -- who shadowed James on defense -- made all three of his three-point shots and finished with 12 points. Bowen made two three-point baskets and Tim Duncan made four baskets as the Spurs went on an 18-7 run to start the third quarter.

Denver 107, Portland 68 -- Coach George Karl returned to the bench after serving a two-game suspension and the Nuggets, behind 23 points and 17 rebounds from Marcus Camby, routed the Trail Blazers at Denver.

Detroit 82, Boston 81 -- Richard Hamilton made a 20-foot shot with no time left at Boston. Tayshaun Prince, whom the Celtics elected not to guard on the inbounds pass, found Hamilton just inside the three-point arc.

Memphis 94, Orlando 85 -- The Grizzlies took control in the middle of the fourth quarter at Orlando, Fla., after the Magic had pulled within 72-70. Pao Gasol made consecutive jump shots, Eddie Jones made a three-point basket and Memphis pulled away.

Washington 86, New York 75 -- The Wizards turned Larry Brown’s big night into the fourth consecutive home-opening loss for the Knicks.

Antawn Jamison and Jarvis Hayes keyed a decisive fourth-quarter run as the Wizards beat the Knicks in Brown’s first home game as coach.

Utah 91, Golden State 85 -- The Jazz won despite making only one basket during the last 6:54 at Oakland -- rookie Deron Williams’ shot with 4:43 to play. The Warriors played without point guard Baron Davis, who sat out to rest his strained hamstring.

Seattle 107, Minnesota 102 -- Ray Allen scored 11 of his 32 points in overtime to lead the SuperSonics at Seattle. He was seven for 24 from the field in regulation but went three for four in overtime, scoring all but two of Seattle’s points in the extra five minutes.

Charlotte 110, Philadelphia 93 -- Emeka Okafor had 24 points and 11 rebounds, and Brevin Knight had 14 points and 15 assists to lead the Bobcats past the winless 76ers (0-3) at Philadelphia.

New Jersey 102, Toronto 92 -- Richard Jefferson had 35 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Nets past the Raptors at Toronto.
