Knicks Begin Trip by Falling to 0-4

Beginning a six-game trip, the New York Knicks remained winless in four games under Coach Larry Brown with a 95-83 loss at Portland, Ore.

Zach Randolph had 29 points and 12 rebounds, and Darius Miles had 26 points and eight rebounds for Portland, which took the lead for good with a 10-0 run to open the second half and eventually led by as many as 15 points.

Portland evened its record under new Coach Nate McMillan to 2-2, with both of its victories coming at the Rose Garden.

Jamal Crawford had 15 points for the Knicks, on a stretch of 12 of 16 games on the road.

Philadelphia 112, Dallas 97 -- Allen Iverson scored 25 points, Andre Iguodala had 22 and Kyle Korver had 20, and the 76ers never looked back after a 15-0 run spanning the third and fourth quarters at Philadelphia.

Keith Van Horn had 19 points for Dallas, which lost Dirk Nowitzki late in the second quarter because of a strained back. He is listed as day to day.

Cleveland 112, Seattle 85 -- LeBron James scored 31 points, and the Cavaliers made a team-record 28 free throws in a row before missing in a victory at Cleveland. The previous record was 22.

Ray Allen had 28 points for Seattle, which trailed by 22 points at halftime following the first- quarter loss of forward Rashard Lewis (shoulder). Lewis could return Friday at Washington.

New Jersey 91, Utah 83 -- Vince Carter scored 21 points, and Richard Jefferson had 17 points, nine rebounds and 12 assists as the Nets used a 23-9 third-quarter run to win at East Rutherford, N.J.

Andrei Kirilenko had 18 points for Utah.

Chicago 85, Golden State 84 -- Michael Sweetney made two free throws with 6.3 seconds left, and Kirk Hinrich scored 23 points for the Bulls, who overcame 26 turnovers at Chicago.

Baron Davis had 17 points for Golden State.

Denver 107, Sacramento 91 -- Marcus Camby scored eight of his 20 points during the Nuggets’ 18-3 run in the fourth quarter and had 11 rebounds and six blocked shots in a victory at Denver. Carmelo Anthony scored 18 points.

Sacramento’s Peja Stojakovic had 26 points, making six of his 10 three-point attempts.

San Antonio 94, Charlotte 86 -- Tim Duncan scored 29 points, and Tony Parker had 23 to lead the Spurs at Charlotte, N.C.

Boston 99, Memphis 98 -- Ricky Davis made a jump shot as time expired, and Paul Pierce had 29 points to help the Celtics overcome an 18-point deficit at Boston. Eddie Jones led the Grizzlies with 20 points.

Orlando 88, New Orleans 83 -- Steve Francis scored 24 points to help the Magic hand the Hornets their first loss at Oklahoma City. Speedy Claxton had 24 points for the Hornets.

NBA Commissioner David Stern said the league has no expansion plans, but the New Orleans Hornets’ success in their new “home” has made Oklahoma City the favorite if a team were to relocate. The Hornets were forced to relocate by Hurricane Katrina.... New Jersey Net Coach Lawrence Frank was fined $25,000 by the NBA for failing to leave the court in a timely matter after Monday’s 90-89 loss at Miami. Frank, also cited for verbal abuse of a game official, was angry over the officiating.... Hall of Fame center Robert Parish was hired as a consultant by the Boston Celtics, whom he helped to three NBA titles in the 1980s.
