No better than fifth in his first three starts, Armenian Summer turned things around Oct. 7 at Santa Anita.

Dropped into a maiden claimer for the first time and making his initial start around two turns on dirt, the 3-year-old Siberian Summer colt rolled to a five-length victory at 22-1.

The California-bred will try to prove that victory wasn’t a fluke when he takes on seven other state-breds in tonight’s seventh, a $44,000 allowance at 1 1/16 miles, at Hollywood Park. Omar Figueroa, who was aboard for the win, retains the mount and they will leave from the inside box.
