Stanislaus Defeats Irvine
From Times Staff Reports
Senior guard Calvert Wright’s free throw with 4.6 seconds to play lifted Cal State Stanislaus over UC Irvine, 91-90, in a nonconference game Tuesday night at Irvine.
Wright rebounded his shot on the second attempt and the Warriors (3-0) ran out the clock to become the first NCAA Division II team to defeat the Anteaters since Assumption College did it, 67-65, on Dec. 29, 1979.
Senior guard Ross Schraeder led Irvine (3-3) with 21 points.
