Norstrom Expects to Be Ready Sunday

Share

The Kings had Friday off , but defenseman Mattias Norstrom skated for the first time since coming down with a fever last week.

Norstrom said he would practice with the team today and expected to play on Sunday when the Kings face the Minnesota Wild at Staples Center.

“Practice will be a really good test, but I’m shooting for Sunday,” Norstrom said. “I felt really bad starting [on] Monday and had a fever of 102 for a couple days. Today was the first day I felt better. Sunday shouldn’t be a problem.”

Norstrom, the team’s captain, was placed on the injured reserve before the season, retroactive to Sept. 27, because of a strained hamstring, but it was the flu-like symptoms that kept him out of the opener Wednesday in Dallas; he was eligible to come off the injured reserve that day.

If Norstrom plays Sunday, the Kings have to make a roster move and will likely send 21-year old Denis Grebeshkov to minor league Manchester.
