Substance in County Building Not Hazardous

A granular substance discovered Tuesday in the mailroom of the Orange County Hall of Finance and Records turned out to be nonhazardous plastic foam, authorities said.
Several employees were evacuated at 9:37 a.m. for about six hours while the Santa Ana Fire Department’s hazardous-materials team examined the substance found in a mail cart, Capt. Ben Gonzales said. The incident is under investigation.
