Oaks Standouts Run East

Singhalese and Three Degrees, the 1-2 finishers in the Del Mar Oaks, will participate in another Grade I when they run in the $500,000 Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Keeneland in Kentucky.

Six other 3-year-old fillies entered the 1 1/8 -mile turf race, including likely favorite Luas Line.

The Irish bred was an easy winner in her return to the U.S., taking the Garden City Breeders’ Cup on Sept. 10 at Belmont Park.

It was the fourth win in 10 starts for Luas Line, who finished fourth in the American Oaks earlier in the year at Hollywood Park. She will again be ridden by John Velazquez.

Second as the 1-2 favorite in the Pucker Up at Arlington since her victory in the Del Mar Oaks, Singhalese will leave from the rail under jockey Mike Smith. Three Degrees, who was beaten by half a length in the Del Mar Oaks, will be ridden by Alex Solis as she makes her first start outside California since arriving from England.

Isla Cozzene, Karen’s Caper, Gorella, Naissance Royale and Sweet Talker round out the field.

Race of the day: Willow O Wisp will try for his fourth consecutive stakes victory when he takes on seven other 3-year-olds in the $250,000 Oak Tree Derby at Santa Anita.

Garrett Gomez will ride the son of Misnomer in the Grade II at 1 1/8 miles. In his last three starts, the gelding has won the Cinema Breeders’ Cup Handicap, the La Jolla Handicap and the Del Mar Derby.

Other contenders include Osidy, Tedo and Follow The Rainbow.

One for the road: Falcon Eagle comes back for double what she was claimed for more than a year ago as she returns for trainer Ed Moger Jr. in today’s fourth at Bay Meadows. Francisco Duran will ride the 4-year-old Native Prospector filly in the $16,000 claimer for older maidens at 5 1/2 furlongs. Falcon Eagle, who was claimed for $8,000 on July 28, 2004, will race on Lasix for the first time.

Exotically speaking: A pick four using Turnbolt, Head Of The House and Apalachee Tiger in the seventh, Primerica and Max Power in the eighth, Willow O Wisp and Follow The Rainbow in the ninth and Tricky Al and Thunder Maker in the 10th.
