Board OKs Hiring of Mediator in Salary Talks

The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved hiring a mediator to broker a contract with about 300 county prosecutors, public defenders and child support lawyers who had protested stalled salary talks by clogging the court system with a deluge of legal proceedings.
Joseph Gentile will intercede between county officials and the San Bernardino County Public Attorneys Assn., which wants its members to be paid akin to administrative lawyers in the San Bernardino County counsel office.
