Brian Toal’s one-yard touchdown run in overtime Saturday at Clemson, S.C., lifted Boston College to its first Atlantic Coast Conference victory, 16-13, over Clemson.

The Eagles, 3-1 and 1-1 in the conference, did not score in the final 41 minutes of regulation after taking a 10-0 lead. But on second-and-goal on their extra possession, Toal moved through the right side for the winning points.

For Clemson (2-2, 1-2), it was a second consecutive tough home loss. Last week, the Tigers lost to Miami, 36-30, in triple overtime.

Andre Callender rushed for 116 yards for Boston College, which played without starting quarterback Quinton Porter. Porter injured his right ankle in the Eagles’ ACC debut in the previous game, a 28-17 loss to Florida State.

Boston College had a chance to win in regulation, but Ryan Ohliger missed a 48-yard field-goal try with 1:14 remaining.

No. 12 Miami 23, Colorado 3 -- Kyle Wright passed for 264 yards and a touchdown, and ran for another, and the Hurricane defense frustrated the Buffaloes (2-1) in an easy victory at Miami. The Hurricanes are 2-1.

Only Mason Crosby’s 58-yard field goal -- the second longest of his career -- with 11:57 left kept the Buffaloes from being shut out for the first time in nearly two decades.

Sinorice Moss had 111 yards receiving, including a 53-yard touchdown catch, for the Hurricanes, who got three field goals from Jon Peattie, then a two-yard scoring run by Wright with 8:44 left.

No. 23 Virginia 38, Duke 7 -- Marques Hagans threw four touchdown passes and the Cavaliers (3-0, 1-0) forced four turnovers to give Virginia the victory over the Blue Devils (1-3, 0-2) at Charlottesville, Va.

Duke did not score until the fourth quarter, and managed only 11 first downs and 215 yards from scrimmage, much of which came after the outcome was decided. The Blue Devils sent three quarterbacks out in the first quarter alone, none of whom could move the offense.

North Carolina 31, North Carolina State 24 -- Barrington Edwards ran for a career-high 129 yards and a touchdown, Matt Baker recovered from a miserable first half to throw for the go-ahead score and the Tar Heels (1-2, 1-1) held on to defeat the Wolfpack (1-2, 0-2) at Raleigh, N.C.

The Tar Heels beat their rival for the 10th time in 13 meetings by finding a running game. In two opening losses, they had only 118 rushing yards, then totaled 144 against one of the best defenses in the country.

Maryland 22, Wake Forest 12 -- Josh Wilson returned a fumble 20 yards for a touchdown and the Terrapins (2-2, 1-1) held on to defeat the Demon Deacons (1-3, 0-1) at Winston-Salem, N.C.

Maryland has won seven in a row in the series, including all five matchups since Jim Grobe took over as Wake Forest coach.
