Update -- Despite their record, the Avengers have a chance to qualify for the playoffs with six regular-season games remaining. The Avengers, who have lost their last two games, are tied for last in the Western Division but are only two games behind first-place Las Vegas and Arizona and play their final four games at Staples Center. Rookie Sonny Cumbie, the second-most sacked quarterback in the AFL, has 30 touchdown passes and only three of his passes have been intercepted. Cumbie’s main target has been Kevin Ingram, who leads the Avengers with 68 receptions for 817 yards and 19 touchdowns.
