Sacramento Keeps Bid Alive for Seventh Spot

Bonzi Wells scored 23 points to help the Sacramento Kings retain a shot at the seventh spot in the Western Conference with a 111-105 victory over the visiting Seattle SuperSonics on Tuesday night.

The Kings would move up to seventh if the Lakers lose tonight but will remain eighth otherwise.

Washington 116, Milwaukee 103 -- Gilbert Arenas scored 31 of his 43 points in the second half and the Wizards overcame a career-high 43 points from Michael Redd at Washington to give the Wizards a chance to earn the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference with a victory today at Detroit. Milwaukee will have to await today’s results to learn its seeding.

Philadelphia 91, New Jersey 88 -- Allen Iverson and Chris Webber, who were not going to play because of minor injuries, will be fined by the 76ers for not being at the arena the required 90 minutes before tipoff of a victory at Philadelphia.

Atlanta 103, Miami 100 -- The host Hawks beat a Heat team playing without Coach Pat Riley, Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade. Riley was visiting his ailing mother in upstate New York.

Meanwhile, Heat forward James Posey was fined $5,000 by the NBA for a flagrant foul on Chicago’s Luol Deng in Sunday’s loss to the Bulls.
