Producer Brian Grazer filed for a legal separation this week in Los Angeles Superior Court from his wife of nearly nine years, novelist Gigi Levangie Grazer.

Citing irreconcilable differences, Grazer, 54, declared in a petition filed Monday that the couple have no community property, “pursuant to the premarital agreement of the parties.”

Grazer, who won a best picture Oscar with his partner Ron Howard in 2002 for “A Beautiful Mind,” has also produced “Cinderella Man” and “Intolerable Cruelty,” a malevolent romp starring George Clooney as a divorce lawyer outwitted by a gold digger played by Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Levangie Grazer’s three novels include last year’s “The Starter Wife,” about a woman who is dumped by her movie executive husband of nine years, kicked out of her Brentwood mansion and forced to fend for herself as a single mother. Levangie Grazer, 43, also wrote the screenplay for the Julia Roberts movie “Stepmom.”

The Grazers, each of whom had been married previously, have two young boys. Grazer is seeking joint custody.
