Woman Who Left Baby on Steps Turns Herself In
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The mother of the dead infant found on the steps of St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church early Wednesday has turned herself in to authorities.
Opal Elizabeth Jackson, 30, was being held Thursday on outstanding warrant charges, including a parole violation. The charges are unrelated to the death of the infant, said Lt. Mike McBride of the Inglewood Police Department.
The coroner’s office determined that Jackson, who is being held without bail, is the mother. The cause of the infant’s death is under investigation.
