Streisand tickets may be invalid

Organizers of Barbra Streisand’s first U.S. tour since 1994 said Tuesday that at least 1,000 tickets -- purchased with stolen credit cards and then put up for sale on various Internet ticket resale sites -- had been invalidated.

Anyone who shows up with the tickets -- even unwittingly -- will not be granted admission to shows at 10 venues nationwide.

“The ‘buyer beware’ adage applies here more than ever,” said Streisand’s manager, Martin Erlichman.

Ticketmaster officials urged concertgoers to check www.ticketmaster.com/barbrastreisand for a list of the invalidated tickets. They said tickets should be purchased only at venue box offices or through Ticketmaster.

“We are working closely with law enforcement to identify the source of this fraud and prosecute to the full extent of the law,” Ticketmaster President Sean Moriarty said.

“We’re hoping this warning will help to protect fans not only from losing their money, but also from missing the opportunity to attend a concert they’ve waited so long to see,” said Michael Cohl, an official with the tour’s national promoter, CPI Concerts.

Streisand’s 19-show tour starts in Philadelphia on Oct. 4 and arrives in L.A. Nov. 20, when she’ll perform at Staples Center downtown. No Staples Center tickets were listed on the website as invalid as of Tuesday afternoon.

Streisand is donating a large portion of the tour proceeds to charity.
