It has been a long time since Iowa has won a Big Ten Conference regular-season title. So long, in fact, that no team that has called Carver-Hawkeye Arena home has done it.

But Tuesday night, the Hawkeyes took a step toward their first outright conference title in 36 seasons.

Greg Brunner scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Jeff Horner added 15 points and six assists and No. 18 Iowa picked up its fifth consecutive victory over a ranked opponent, beating No. 16 Michigan State, 66-54, at Iowa City.

The Hawkeyes, 20-6 overall, 9-3 in the Big Ten, set a team record with their 16th consecutive victory at Carver-Hawkeye -- which opened in 1983 -- and are a game ahead of Ohio State in the Big Ten standings with four games to play.

Paul Davis led Michigan State (18-7, 6-5) with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

No. 2 Duke 93, Wake Forest 70 -- J.J. Redick scored 33 points and broke the NCAA record for career three-point baskets in the Blue Devils’ victory at Durham, N.C.

Redick broke Curtis Staples’ mark of 413, set at Virginia from 1994 to ’98.

Josh McRoberts scored 12 of his 16 points in the first half and Shelden Williams also had 16 for Duke (24-1, 12-0 Atlantic Coast Conference). The Demon Deacons (13-12, 1-10) lost their seventh conference game in a row.

No. 3 Memphis 80, Southern Mississippi 41 -- Rodney Carney scored 15 points and Kareem Cooper had 13 points and 13 rebounds to help the host Tigers (23-2, 9-0 Conference USA) win their 12th in a row. Courtney Beasley scored 15 points for Southern Mississippi (8-17, 2-8).

No. 6 Texas 90, Baylor 63 -- LaMarcus Aldridge had 23 points to lead the Longhorns (22-3, 10-1 Big 12) to victory at Austin, Texas. Aaron Bruce scored 15 points to lead Baylor (2-9, 2-9).

Seton Hall 71, No. 11 West Virginia 64 -- Kelly Whitney had 21 points to lead the Pirates (16-7, 7-4 Big East) to the upset at East Rutherford, N.J. Kevin Pittsnogle had 24 points for the Mountaineers (18-6, 9-2), who had won four of five.
