Oklahoma Clinches Title

Ninth-ranked Oklahoma clinched its first Big 12 Conference regular-season title in four years and extended its winning streak to 11 games, beating No. 21 Texas A&M;, 73-54, Saturday night at Norman, Okla.

Courtney Paris had 15 points and 14 rebounds for Oklahoma (23-4, 13-0), which is seeking to become the first Big 12 team to go undefeated in conference play.

The conference title is the fifth for the Sooners, who also won the Big 8 in 1986 and the Big 12 in 2000, 2001 and 2002 -- the last when they finished as the national runner-up.

Texas A&M; (19-7, 8-5), ranked for the first time since the end of the 1996 season when it was in the Southwest Conference, lost its second straight game. The Aggies have lost 11 straight at Oklahoma’s Lloyd Noble Center.

No. 11 Stanford 87, Arizona 76 -- The visiting Cardinal (19-6, 14-3) rebounded from a loss at Arizona State to remain in first place in the Pacific 10. The Wildcats (7-20, 3-13) have lost eight in a row.

No. 15 Arizona State 62, California 43 -- The Sun Devils (22-5, 13-4) routed the visiting Golden Bears (16-10, 8-8) to remain a half-game behind Pac-10 leader Stanford. It was their school-record eighth consecutive conference victory.

No. 16 DePaul 70, St. John’s 67 -- Khara Smith made a short jump shot with 13.6 seconds left at Chicago to give the Blue Demons (22-5, 9-5 Big East) their fourth consecutive win. The Red Storm is 19-6 and 9-5.

Wyoming 57, No. 19 Brigham Young 56 -- Hanna Zavecz made a free throw with 13.4 seconds left to lift the visiting Cowboys (18-6, 8-5 Mountain West Conference) over the Cougars (20-3, 10-2).

No. 24 Louisiana Tech 72, Boise State 59 -- The visiting Lady Techsters (20-4, 12-1 Western Athletic Conference) shot only 29% from the field but still managed to beat the Broncos (13-12, 5-8).

No. 25 Utah 79, Air Force 53 -- The Utes (19-5, 10-3 Mountain West) never trailed and led the host Falcons (12-12, 3-10) by as many as 29 in the second half in winning their sixth in a row.
